Summary on improving the study effectiveness

On skill practice:

Phrases of the skill development:

  1. Insufficient to finish the assignment
  2. Uncompleted understanding but sufficient to finish the assignment
  3. Completed logic within the unit
  4. Integrate the unit into the big picture
  5. Effective in applications
  6. Accurate intuition

An excellent skill must satisfy the criteria of:

  • Depth of thoughts: master the logic frameworks of the disciplines, especially the basic assumptions, the reasoning paradigm and the relationships among the knowledge and the others.
  • Accurate intuition: apply the knowledge correctly under time limit and complicated context.

With my experience of exams, it seems that the depth and logic in analysis the case are OK, however it reveals some problems of answering the calculation questions accurately in tough time limitation.

Therefore, following should be done to improve the accuracy of the intuition:

  • A summary of the content must be finished BEFORE the assignment. Never get familiar with the content through assignment which is just for practice and improving the skill.
  • The practice of assignment must on the time pressure and require both the speed and the accuracy.

On improving class learning effectiveness

Improve the Prep

  • Must prep the classes
  • May prep several lectures ahead of time
  • Use different approach for different courses: 1)ACC type: scan for the outline; 2) DD type: with the requirement of the lecturer; 3) FIN and ME type: get familiar with the content; 4) MPHP type: know the topic of the lecture

Following the lecturer in class: even in courses like MPHP

Must write the summary after class.

Managing the mood and trying my best through the whole process to contribute and to make influence.

Introduce my formal control:

  • Prep the tool set and training material in holiday
  • Discuss the process and tools ahead of time
  • Improve the brain storm into more optimized approach
  • Meeting agenda
  • Planning
  • Personnel allocation
  • Progress control
  • Tool set of coordination
  • Change management

Balance the time available and the self-expectation

On exam prep

Finish all the assignment and summary after each lecture

Focus on integration of content and practice when exam prep season.

On interactive with lecturers

Must discuss the innovative thoughts with the lecturers.
